HMP Freelance Marketplace

Help Me Project

Background

Help Me Project's CEO Angel Bou got me on board as equity developer by transmitting his optimism and illusion about a marketplace that would increase flexibility on companies and also enable a circulation and trade of errands between online based workers. As it couldn't be other way, HMP's team was also distributed, including smart people from all over the world. They already had some work done on the back end, based on the Play Framework, but they needed some Front-End touches.

Role

I built a modular AMD based architecture that included modules for notifications and error handling, infinite scroll, and several facade modules for 3rd party components. I also managed an always too small team of front end developers, and worked hand in hand with our star designer Marta Serrano to provide optimized User Experience solutions to business requirements.

Results

We launched a responsive Freelance Marketplace web application, able to work on different devices and screens, and with a modular architecture that could be easily extended. It was a fully multilanguage app with introductory tour, profile, home feed and project search capabilities. However, we weren't that successful on the business side of the company, having problems to get more users onto our platform. It was a great experience where I learned a lot about remote teams and dynamics.

Testimonial

Marcos has the kind of skill that a Front-End Engineer needs. Not just technical but a good sense for designs and user friendly interfaces. He works perfectly under pressure and even with few resources.
